Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths on Thursday arrested a clerk working with Kalyan-Dombivali Municipal Corportation (KDMC) for allegedly demanding sexual favours from a woman in order to not take action against her for defaulting on paying Property Taxes. He was caught in a garden where he had asked the victim to meet him.

The arrested government servant has been identified as Rameshchandra Laxman Rajput (48). Rajput is a Class III official working with the tax department of KDMC.

According to the ACB officials, Rajput had issued a last intimation to the 30-year-old complainant to pay pending property tax of her house, before issuing a confiscation warrant of the house.

“In her complaint, the victim has alleged that in order to increase the time period of paying the pending property tax and to lower the amount of property tax, Rajput had demanded sexual favours from her in the form of bribe,” said an ACB official.

He added, the victim did not wanted to comply to Rajput’s demand and hence she approached the ACB on Tuesday and lodged a complaint.

“Rajput had called the victim to a garden at Subhash Maidan in Kalyan to meet him. A trap was laid and Rajput was arrested when he arrived at the spot around 12.45 pm to meet the victim,” the official said.

The ACB is likely to produce the accused government servant Rajput before a special ACB court on Friday and seek his police remand. “We will also be investigating whether Rajput had similarly exploited other women in the past. We would appeal to all the citizens that they should approach the ACB to fight against corruption,” said an ACB official.
