Kamalesh Das appointed as new Director-Engineering, R&D of BHEL

He has over 36 years of experience in the energy, transmission and industrial systems space
Kamalesh Das appointed as new Director-Engineering, R&D of BHEL New Delhi: Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL), the country's largest power equipment manufacturer, today announced Kamalesh Das has assumed charge as Director-Engineering, R&D of the company post his appointment as director on the board of the public sector manufacturing enterprise.

He has over 36 years of experience in the energy, transmission and industrial systems space.

Prior to this, Das, 57, was heading various business verticals as executive director at BHEL’s industry sector, which is responsible for carrying out diversification and growth initiatives. Major verticals in his portfolio included Renewable Energy, Industrial Systems, Electrical and Transmission Products.

Das has also served as the head of multiple manufacturing units of BHEL including insulator plant at Jagdishpur, electro-porcelains division in Bengaluru and component fabrication plant at Rudrapur.

He is an engineering graduate from Calcutta University and also holds a post-graduate diploma in management. Das had joined BHEL as an Engineer Trainee at the company’s Insulator Plant in 1982.
