'It breaks our heart': Aboriginal AFL star Tim Kelly's fiancée slams vile internet trolls who branded him a 'monkey' in racist Instagram messages

  • Another AFL star player is subjected to racist attacks on their Instagram account
  • Photos posted by Tim Kelly's fiancée lead to troll labelling him a 'monkey'
  • Troll then posted image of Kelly and one of his children tagged with same term
  • It comes less than a week after another AFL star was subjected to same slurs

The fiancée of AFL star Tim Kelly has lashed out at racist bullies after she revealed an internet troll had called her husband a 'monkey' on Instagram and targeted her three-year-old son.

Caitlin Miller, 24, said she saw the offensive comment from the account 'ipl_fantasy' under a picture of the Geelong Cats player on his social media page.

Ms Miller also said the account posted an offensive caption under a picture of Kelly at AFLX with the couple's son Tykeem, the Geelong Advertiser reported.

The account, which has since been deleted, left the couple feeling upset.

'This is the first time anything like this has happened online and especially with our children,' Ms Miller said.

'It honestly breaks our hearts knowing that our son is only three years of age and is already being racially targeted.

'These people who do and say such things obviously don't know the effect it has on our people.'

Kelly is Indigenous and has Chilean heritage while Ms Miller has Indian and Aboriginal heritage.

The cruel remarks come a week after Indigenous AFL star Eddie Betts was subjected to racist taunts on social media.

An official photo posted by the Adelaide Crows to its Instagram showed Betts arriving at Melbourne's Marvel Stadium for the AFLX exhibition competition.

The picture showed Betts wearing a pink blazer, white dress shirt and dress pants.

While most fans posted positive comments, one troll took to the account and posted the derogatory phrase 'monkey see monkey do'.

Betts was horrified by the remark, taking to social media to respond.

The remarks came less than a week after Adelaide Crows superstar Eddie Betts was subjected to almost identical remarks on an Instagram post from the AFLX competition (pictured)

'When will it stop?' he wrote.

'Why can't we just play footy? Why can't we just all get along?.'

The football club was forced to then turn comments off on the picture of Betts and it later posted a status hitting out at any form of racist behaviour.

'We strongly condemn any form of racial vilification and consider such behaviour abhorrent and disgusting,' the post read.

Another AFL superstar and AFLX player, Geelong star Patrick Dangerfield, said he was left disgusted by the attack on Betts.

'Disgusting. Cowardly. Racist,' he wrote.

AFL Players Association chief executive Paul Marsh described it as 'disgraceful, cowardly [and] racist' and said Betts was one of the 'finest people in the game, ABC News reported.
