10 candidates from Iraq apply for PhD in Madurai Kamaraj University

MADURAI: Madurai Kamaraj University (MKU) on Friday announced that a total of 10 candidates from Iraq have applied for enrolling themselves for PhD programmes in the university.
Two of these candidates have already got their registrations confirmed in the department of biochemistry and the department of commerce.
MKU officials said vice-chancellor M Krishnan – who assumed charge on January 2 – had laid a particular emphasis on making the university an attractive destination for foreign students and that the latest interest shown by students from Iraq was a good start.
According to university officials, more than 50 Iraqi students are likely to seek admission to postgraduate programmes in the academic year 2019-20.
