Students of Paramita High School secure first prize in quiz

Science exhibitions, quiz competitions, skits and awareness programmes were held as part of National Science Day celebrations at various schools in the town on Thursday.

Joint Collector G.V. Shyam Prasad Lal inaugurated the quiz contests at District Science Museum at Government Old High School here. A total of 160 students from 40 schools participated in the competitions in which the students of Paramita High School secured first prize, TS Model School, Elgandal, bagged the second prize, while Alphores e-Techno School won the third prize.

The students of Paramita CBSE, IIT and Medical League presented cultural programmes and staged skits that spoke on the importance of science in society.

The students of Bhagavathi High School, Karimnagar, organised a science exhibition and put on display several creative models. Also, Blue Bells High School in Hanumannagar in the town organised a science fair to mark the celebrations.

Thought-provoking science models were on display as part of a science exhibition organised at Alphores Educational Institutions here. The models on bio-toilet, auto-scan, solar washing machine, water harvesting structure, portable air cooler and others won the accolades.

Raman’s inventions

In Nizamabad, the activists of Jana Vignana Vedika (JVV) celebrated the birth anniversary of renowned physicist Sir C.V. Raman and National Science Day at Nalanda High School on Thursday.

Attending as chief guest, Akula Vishal, associate professor of neuro psychiatry at Government Medical College, explained the Raman effect, his inventions and their uses to students and the importance of science in life.

JVV district president Atluri Murali presided over the event and its leaders Ch. Rajeswar, Ch. Padma and Neha and school headmistress Padmavathi participated.
