Pak. must call ceasefire on border to show sincerity: MNS chief

Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray said on Thursday that war could never be a solution to any issue and Pakistan must take the first step by releasing IAF pilot Abhinandan. It must also call a ceasefire across the border to show its sincerity about having constructive talks.

“If Pakistan is really sincere in their offer of constructive talks, then the first step in this direction must come from them,” he said in a statement issued on Thursday. “They have to release our pilot Abhinandan immediately and call a ceasefire. If this is done, then we can believe that Imran Khan’s intentions are noble. If all this take place, then Modi should not let this opportunity pass by.”

“Atalji started the ‘Sada-e-Sarhad,’ a bus service up to Lahore, and then the ‘Samjhauta Express’ was initiated too. A historic [summit] talk took place in Agra. Unfortunately, it ended with no permanent outcome,” he said.

“If North Korea and South Korea, who were so hostile to each other, can come forward to defuse the conflict between them, then why can’t we?” he asked.

Mr. Thackeray said that war could never be a solution to any issue. “In fact, a war is damaging and pushes the country behind at all levels. The Kashmiri population will be crushed and we cannot afford to do that,” he said.
