MYSURU: B Sreeramulu, BJP vice-president and former minister, on Thursday said it is vital to vote Prime Minister Narendra Modi back to power to ensure national security.
Sreeramulu, who participated in the launch of ‘Mera Booth Sabse Mazboot’ campaign, an initiative of the saffron party to galvanise workers at the grassroots, said, “For us, the nation is more important than anything else. PM Modi must come back to power to ensure India’s safety and security. You must resolve to ensure Modi’s re-election.”

Prior to Sreeramulu’s speech, Modi had addressed workers via video conference and had urged them to ensure a good show for the party in the state in the forthcoming Lok Sabha election.

Carrying on in the same vein, Sreeramulu said: “Like soldiers who work tirelessly to guard our nation, party workers must strive like jawans in the run-up to polls. When the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government was in power at the Centre, India had little leverage among nations. This changed when Modi assumed the PM’s chair. If re-elected, Modi will take the country to greater heights.”

The former Ballari MP said that opposition parties had united with the singular aim of defeating Modi. “Their coming together is a ploy to defeat Modi,” said Sreeramulu, who also used the occasion to take a swipe at chief minister HD Kumaraswamy. “The CM is only talking about farm loan waiver. He has completely neglected North Karnataka, and has restricted his focus to four to five districts in South Karnataka.”

Meanwhile, Mysuru MP Pratap Simha to draw a bizarre distinction between BJP workers and rivals, saying: “Unlike BJP workers, who are simple and poor, you will find activists of the Congress and JD(S) sporting gold chains and travelling in SUVs. While workers of other parties ask their leaders what amount of money can be spent per booth, BJP activists are motivated by their desire to get maximum votes for Modi.”
