High definition (HD) maps are vital in order to facilitate safe, smooth and efficient automated driving. They allow automated vehicles to localise themselves on the road, support sensors in the perception of the environment, and help the vehicle to anticipate the road ahead.

To ensure safe and smooth automated driving, HD maps must continuously reflect the road, and match changes to driving conditions as quickly as possible. This is where speed becomes vital.

In this 60-minute webinar, Taco Olthoff, Manager Product Marketing, TomTom Automotive, explains why fast map-making, map delivery and map maintenance leads to improved HD maps, contributing to a safer automated driving future.
