Punjab minister orders probe as telecom companies dig up forest land in Bathinda
Manish Sirhindi | TNN | Feb 28, 2019, 20:27 ISTPATIALA: Punjab cabinet minister for forest and social welfare Sadhu Singh Dharamsot has ordered a probe into the alleged digging up of the forest land by some telecom companies in Bathinda.
The minister, who was in Patiala on Thursday to preside over the meeting of the district administration to oversee the ongoing developmental works, said that he had received a complaint in this regard following which he asked senior officials of the forest department to look into the matter and submit a report in the next 15 days.
He said the state government will not allow any damage to the forests and in case 20 telecom companies are found to be on the wrong side of the law, strict action will be taken against them.
In regard with Randeep Singh Nabha seeking a party ticket to contest the Lok Sabha elections from Patiala seat, Dharamsot said anyone could apply for a ticket to contest the elections and in case the high command decides to give him or her a ticket, the party will support their campaign.
Earlier, the minister along with the officials of the district administration observed two-minute silence to pay tributes to the martyrs of Pulwama attack.
