Former Puducherry Chief Minister and AINRC founder N. Rangasamy called on Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) founder S. Ramadoss at the latter’s residence in Thailapuram near here on Wednesday. The meeting was described as a courtesy call by PMK Puducherry unit convenor K. Dhanraj and AINRC leaders accompanying Mr. Rangasamy.
Sources said Mr. Rangasamy held discussions with Mr. Ramadoss for nearly half-an-hour before leaving for Puducherry with AINRC general secretary V. Bhalan. AINRC is part of the AIADMK-led alliance including the PMK and the BJP and will be contesting the lone Lok Sabha seat in the Union Territory as part of the alliance.
Mr. Rangasamy also called on senior BJP leader and party Rajya Sabha member L. Ganesan. Mr. Rangasamy went to the BJP office near Indira Gandhi statue and called on the leader.
Mr. Ganesan told reporters that talks with alliance partners would be completed in three to four days to finalise the seats BJP would contest in Tamil Nadu.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi would visit Kanniyakumari and address a public meeting, he said. There are different political parties because they pursue various ideologies. Coming together of different political parties in electoral politics was nothing new, he said.
