Man trapped overnight after fall between buildings at Valley worksite
A 41-year-old man spent the night trapped at a Fortitude Valley construction site after he had fallen up to 10 metres between two buildings.
Emergency services were called to Brunswick Street about 10.30am on Thursday after the man was found by construction workers. He was not one of the work crew.
Queensland Ambulance Service clinical support officer metro south Tom Kelsey said the man was stuck in a gap between two buildings.
"The patient appears to have fallen potentially up to 10 metres and has been there for a considerable amount of time, we believe since last night," he said.
"Amazingly he has no major injuries, only minor pain to one of his legs but no fractures that we could find."
Mr Kelsey said Queensland Fire and Emergency Services rigged up a pulley system using a crane on site to send a firefighter and a paramedic down the line.
"We assessed the patient down there and deemed it safe to bring that patient up in a harness so he was brought up with the paramedic and firefighter in a harness," he said.
Paramedics told Seven News the man woke up after hearing construction noise.
The man had told paramedics his last memory was being out in the Valley the night before and he was worried "how his missus will react".
The man was taken to the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital.
