Naga Hoho, the apex tribal body of Nagas, has stayed away from the meeting with Interlocutor for Naga peace talks RN Ravi.
Naga Students’ Federation (
NSF) has also pulled itself out of the meet. Naga Hoho president Chuba Ozukum told ET, “We have heard him several times; we feel he has nothing new to say.”
“No solution to Naga political issue can take place now as election is around the corner. What is the use of attending the meeting now? We feel there is “insincerity” and lack of political will on part of government of India towards solving Indo-Naga political problem. We had no other option but to boycott the meeting,” Ozukum said.
Ravi held consultative meeting on Tuesday in Kohima and on Wednesday in
Dimapur. NSF president Kesosul Christopher Ltu and general secretary Imtiyapang Imsong said decision of the federation not to attend the meeting was taken after taking into account the insincerity of the government of India.
Former Union minister Sanjay M. Ram Paswan and member of BJP manifesto team recently stated that Naga issue would be settled after the
Lok Sabha election.
