India Under-19 expectedly raced to a quick win — by an innings and 158 runs — over South Africa Under-19 on the third day of the four-day ‘Test’ at the Sports Hub, Kariyavattom, on Friday.
The huge victory came with a day and two sessions to spare as South Africa, resuming its second innings at 50 for two, crashed to defeat shortly before the lunch break being bowled out for a paltry 85.
This handsome win for the Indians was fashioned by seamers Rex Singh and Anshul Kamboj, who returned with a haul of four and three wickets respectively, and was admirably supported by left-arm spinner Manishi, who finished with two scalps.
There was absolutely no resistance from the South Africans as the Indian bowlers got going and completed the proceedings in just 24.2 overs.
India had defeated the Proteas by nine wickets in the first ‘Test’ last week. The teams will now get down to final preparations for the quadrangular — featuring India-A, India-B, South Africa and Afghanistan — starting here on March 5.
The scores: South Africa Under-19 152 & 85 (Matthew Montgomery 36, Rex Singh four for 18, Anshul Kamboj three for 20) lost to India Under-19 395.
