Several reporters from news and press agencies world over have come to Hanoi to report the meeting and they have witnessed the city’s beauty as well as attractions first hand.
Hanoi vendors are taking full advantage of the summit to hawk everything from T-shirts to haircuts. Food stalls over there are selling cupcakes, burgers and pizzas with Trump and Kim images on them.
Vietnamese airline Vietjet formally signed a contract with Boeing Company to purchase 100 new 737 MAX airplanes worth US$12.7 billion. Vietjet President and CEO, Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao and Boeing Commercial Airplanes President and CEO, Kevin McAllister together co-signed the airplane purchase arrangement. The signing ceremony which took place subsidiary to the United States – North Korea Summit in Hanoi, was witnessed by Vietnam Communist Party General Secretary and President, Nguyen Phu Trong and United States President, Donald Trump.
“The successful hosting of the summit will help Vietnam raise its position and prestige in the world arena, and gain more sentiments from foreigners, thereby attracting more international tourists, even those who have not known much about Viet Nam, and encouraging them to spend more during their holidays in the country,” reported Ha Van Sieu, Deputy General Director of the Viet Nam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT).
Also, Vietnam anticipates attracting more direct and indirect investments after the DPRK-USA Summit, Sieu said, adding that rising inflows in terms of investment and international visitors will stimulate ideas related to new tourism products and new tourist destinations.
