A woman who fell from a moving car and was run over overnight has been flown to a Brisbane hospital with serious injuries.

Police believe the 27-year-old Laidley woman fell out of a car in Gatton, about 30 kilometres east of Toowoomba, about 9pm on Wednesday.

She was then run over by the car and suffered serious head, chest and pelvic injuries.

The 33-year-old Hatton Vale driver was assisting officers but police believe it was an accident.

The woman was flown to the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital.

The Forensic Crash Unit was investigating.
