MS Dhoni is not just a master at effecting stumpings, but he is also a specialist at defending himself from stumpings, even if he needs to perform a split on the field. MS rightly proved this fact during the 2nd T20I between India and Australia, when he left no chance for Aussie wicketkeeper Peter Handscomb to stump him on a clever delivery.
During the Indian innings, Virat Kohli and MSD were hitting Australian bowlers all over the ground. During the second delivery of the 12th over, Aussie spinner Adam Zampa tried to trick Dhoni by bowling a wide ball, expecting a dismissal through stumping, but wasn’t successful.
Firstly, Dhoni stepped forward aiming for a big hit, but when he analysed the ball he went back in the crease in time, performing a split. Handscomb tried to stump Dhoni but he was not successful as Dhoni stretched his legs too much to enter the crease. The decision went to third umpire who gave MS not out.
