KOLKATA: The Special Task Force of the Kolkata Police have arrested two Jammat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) operatives, who were part of the plot to attack a police team and free their India head, Kausar alias Boman Miza, while being taken to court. The STF, which foiled the plot recently, have also busted an acid bomb-making factory in Murshidabad, where explosives were being made for the attack.

This is the third bomb-making unit of the JMB that has been busted since the Khagragarh blast in 2014.

The arrested accused have been identified as Moshibur Rehman (35) alias Farooque and Ruhul Amin (26) alias Saifullah, both from Raghunathganj in Murshidabad. "They were recruited by Kausar and another terrorist, Sajjad. It seems the two were tasked to run the bomb factory, but an interrogation will reveal their other roles. These two take the total JMB arrests to 13 since last year," said an officer. "The Kolkata STF, with the help of Murshidabad police, arrested Farooque and Saifullah and recovered material for explosives, like aluminium dust, ethidium and sulphuric acid from them. The materials were from Deoghar in Jharkhand."
