Brawl over parking in Aligarh, 13 booked

AGRA: Tension prevailed in Aligarh after five persons were allegedly assaulted by a group of people from another community in Baraula Jafrabad area on Wednesday following an argument over parking of vehicles on a road.


According to police, the incident occurred around 4:30 pm, when Yogendra Singh Lodhi, along with his brothers were coming home from their field in an e-rickshaw. Lodhi was unable to enter the area as it was blocked by some parked vehicles. When he had asked for the vehicles to be removed, people from the other community allegedly started abusing him.


Yogendra said around 30-35 people gathered there and started raising slogans of “Pakistan Zindabad” and resorted to stone pelting. They allegedly attacked Yogendra and his brothers Rameshwar and Raj Kumar with sticks. When some people came to their rescue, the mob allegedly attacked them too.


Police said that five injured people, Yogendra, Rameshawar, Raj Kumar, Rajendra Kumar and Naresh were admitted at Malkhan Singh District hospital. A case has been registered against 13 people including Shahrukh, Amzad, Naseem and others under sections 147 (rioting), 307 (attempt to murder), 336 (Act endangering life or personal safety of others), and 325 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt) on the basis of a complaint filed by Yogendra.
