Woman kills daughter, herself
TNN | Feb 28, 2019, 04:40 ISTCoimbatore: A 30-year-old woman jumped into a farm well with her three-year-old daughter, killing herself and the latter, following a family dispute near KG Chavadi here on Tuesday night. On Wednesday morning, her relatives found the bodies floating in the well and alerted police.
The deceased were identified as J Kanchana Devi and her daughter J Sai Mahathi, of Sixth Street at Gandhipuram. According to police, Kanchana Devi got married to Jagadeesh, with whom she was in love, four years ago. She often used to fight with her husband as he didn’t go to work regularly after he suffered a stroke. Jagadeesh was employed with a private mobile operator firm, police said.
On Tuesday around 10pm, Kanchana Devi fought with her husband and left home with her daughter on a scooter. She went to her grandfather’s place at Masthigoundenpathi village, parked her scooter near his farm and jumped into the farm well, holding her daughter close to her. The well, police said, was 15-ft deep.
Around 7am on Wednesday, her relatives found the bodies floating in the well and alerted the KG Chavadi police, who retrieved the bodies with the help of fire and rescue services personal. The bodies were then sent to the Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital for postmortem.
The KG Chavadi police have registered a case. A police officer said the case would be transferred to the Perur all-woman police station.
