School clears metro pillars of posters as NMRC goes to cops
TNN | Feb 28, 2019, 02:24 ISTNOIDA: The Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) filed a complaint on Wednesday against a private school for defacing metro pillars of the Aqua Line with posters. Following the complaint, the school authorities cleared the metro pillars of the posters.
P D Upadhyaya, the executive director of NMRC, said that the administration of Makoons Play school, located in Noida’s Sector 76, has pasted admission posters on the metro pillars of sectors 50, 51 and 76. “The metro pillars looked unpleasant due to defacement. We had also placed advertisements in newspapers and advised people against pasting such advertisements on the metro pillars. However, some people continued to violate the guideline,” he said.
NMRC has also put up some hoardings at different locations over the issue. It has also sent notices to some organisations to stop such unauthorised advertisements.
On the basis of the complaint, an FIR has been registered against the school’s administration at Sector 49 police station. Girija Shankar Tripathi, the SHO Sector 49 said that police had earlier registered a similar case under Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act. “We have clubbed this application in the same FIR and are investigating the matter,” he said.
Spokesperson of Makoons Play school apologised for the act and said the metro pillars have been cleared of posters. “Our head office had hired a vendor for outdoor advertisement. The vendor had inadvertently defaced the metro pillars with posters. We cleaned the pillars as soon as we received the information,” he said.
