CBSE cautions students against 'fake news'

IANS  |  New Delhi

The CBSE on Wednesday advised students to not fall for fake videos/messages on and warned of legal action against those who concoct and spread such messages.

"It has been noticed in the past that certain unscrupulous elements spread rumours by posting fake videos/messages on You Tube, Facebook, and other platforms, obviously with the intention of spreading confusion and panic among students, parents, schools and public," the Central Board of (CBSE) said in a circular.

"Through this notice, persons involved in such activities are warned and advised to restrain themselves," it said, adding necessary legal action will be taken against those found indulging in such acts.

The message was, apparently, intended to counter any fake news on question paper leaks that may cause anxiety among students.

Though such incidents occur in every examination season, last year the question papers of accountancy and mathematics were leaked for real, bringing the board under widespread criticism.
