Making a film might sound fancy; but it is indeed a tedious task especially when it comes to finance, direction, and various other aspects. However, if you have a good team then things can work in your favour believes the team of the Konkani film ‘FAKE’.

Directed by Vishal Haldankar and Rajesh Mandrekar, ‘FAKE’ was recently released in Goan theatres and within a week it picked up numbers.

Shot in Goa, the film tells the tale of two youngsters who enjoy the perks of being fake police and end up trapping a criminal and solving a long pending case. The film has a lot of comedy in it.

It was actor and producer Amod Mardolkar who came up with the idea of this film. But the ‘Noshaa’ actor had never really worked on making a film of his own before. He thus approached a few of his friends who were studying filmmaking at Vinsan Academy along with him and they all hopped onboard to make the film despite lack of resources, financial issues, and other problems.

“We all agreed that the film should be but we did not know where to start or what the story line was. Whatever they taught us in film school we put that all into practice. We followed the exact process of writing the script, the storyboard, etc,” says Vishal. The team also managed to get more people to work with them despite the limited finance.

He credits his team of newcomers for agreeing to be part of the film and putting in their best to make it successful. “Despite many of them being first timers, they were all quite good. For the technical part we took help from professionals,” says Amod.

The making of the film nearly took a year and during this period there were various phases that the film had to go through. There was a point when they were shooting the action scenes, Amod recalls, which took them nearly 72 long hours and was shot with limited breaks. “We thought that we would finish shooting the action scenes within a day. However it took much longer but we continued. This was possible only because of the dedicated team,” says Amod.

And the audience can expect an entertainment thriller, says Gauresh Mayekar adding that it aims to be a stress buster.

The film features two songs namely ‘Paplet’ sung by Mark Revlon and ‘Psychedlic Universe’ by Sabino Dias. The music direction for the songs is by Noel Rosh. “When I was asked to be a part of the film, I was wondering what kind of music would best suit the film. I decided to keep it modern and funky,” shares Rosh.

As part of the film, they are also going to release another song ‘Kaalakalaya’ by Sabino Dias, Mahanand Kavlekar, and Archana Kamoilkar. The date of the release is not decided yet but it will be just an audio, says Amod.
