NOIDA: Two men in a blue-coloured Swift Baleno car allegedly robbed an engineer of his jewellery and passport on Tuesday afternoon in Sector 46. The engineer has been identified as Anurag Lal, a resident of Lotus Boulevard society in Sector 100.
In a complaint filed at Sector 39 police station, Lal told police that around 4.15pm, two men in a Baleno car with registration number HR57AB1518 intercepted his car near HDFC Bank branch in Sector 46 and got down from their vehicle. They then took Lal at gunpoint and asked him to hand over the gold ornaments. “They snatched a gold bangle, a gold chain with five lockets and three gold rings from me and also took my passport,” he said.
Lal, who is a software engineer with an MNC, had to go abroad in two days.
On the basis of the complaint, an FIR has been lodged against the two unknown men under IPC Section 392 (robbery) at Sector 39 police station. When police investigated the matter, they found that the registration number of the car, provided by Lal, was fake. Prashant Kapil, the SHO of Sector 39 said, “It seems to be the work of the same duo which has earlier carried out snatchings and robberies across Noida.”
TOI had earlier reported that Gautam Budh Nagar police was on its toes, looking for a blue coloured Swift Baleno which is suspected to be behind a number of robberies occurred in Noida and Greater Noida over the past two months.
