HYDERABAD: Spirits ran high on Tuesday following the air strike on terror camps in Pakistan by the Indian Air Force. Students and youth took to the streets to celebrate, after the news of the strike was confirmed by the Centre.
Slogans of ‘Jai Hind’ and ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ resonated at Villa Marie College in Somajiguda. Students put up posters stating ‘yeh naya India hain’ (this is new India). With smiles and pride on their faces, they raised their hands in unison.
Similar scenes were witnessed at Osmania University after student members of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad took out a rally and distributed sweets. With the national flag in their hands, students chanted slogans of ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’. The Bharatiya Janta Yuva Morcha also celebrated.
“The Pulwama terror attack claimed the lives of many soldiers. The surgical strike by the Indian government was much-needed. It is a big blow for terror groups, who have been perceiving our silence as weakness for years,” said Sri Hari, city general secretary of ABVP.
Gitam deemed-to-beuniversity, ICFAI Business School also saluted the Indian Air Force over the strikes on their social media pages. A group assembled at Narayanaguda crossroads and celebrated the air strike. Many bikers were seen on Necklace Road with the national flag in their hands, shouting ‘how’s the josh’. Celebrations were rife in districts such as Karimnagar and Warangal. Few residents also burst firecrackers.
