Hooch death toll up to 155

JORHAT: A man died at Jorhat Medical College and Hospital (JMCH) on Tuesday, taking the death toll in the state's hooch tragedy to 155. JMCH deputy superintendent Manob Gohain said, "A man hailing from Golaghat died at JMCH at around 6.30 pm on Tuesday. Another 161 patients are under treatment at the hospital and the condition of three of them are critical."
"There was no report of death from any hospital in Golaghat district on Tuesday," added Dhiren Hazarika, Deputy Commissioner, Golaghat.
Meanwhile, upper Assam commissioner Julie Sonowal has started an investigation and will hold a public hearing at Golaghat on Thursday. A statement from the district administration asked interested individuals or organisations to depose or submit complaints from 10 am to 3 pm at the Golaghat circuit house. A similar probe has been started by the Jorhat district administration.
