Pakistan claims it shot down 2 IAF jets
Pakistan has claimed that its air force shot down two IAF jets today. It has claimed that one aircraft fell in Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) while the other fell in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K), India.
Pakistan’s Director General of Inter Services Public Relations (DGISPR) Major Gen. Asif Ghafoor has further claimed in a tweet that “one Indian pilot [was] arrested by troops on ground while two in the area (sic).”
IAF jet crash update: Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Badgam, present at the crash site has confirmed that bodies of two pilots have been recovered. Another body is yet to be identified.
More details awaited.
Airports in Leh, Jammu, Srinagar and Pathankot are on high alert. Airspace has been suspended for security reasons. Multiple commercial flights have been put on hold.
Pakistan violates Indian air space in Nowshera
Pakistani fighter jets Wednesday violated Indian air space in Nowshera sector of Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri district but were pushed back by Indian aircraft, a top official said.
"The jets entered into Indian air space over Nowshera sector this morning," the official said.
They were immediately pushed back by Indian jets on air patrol. (PTI)
The Pakistani jets returned back to their air space after response from Indian Air Force (IAF) jets, reports add.

Pakistani foreign minister says he won’t attend OIC meet as Sushma Swaraj will be there
Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has said that he will not be attending the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) meeting in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE) since India’s External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj will be there.
“I have spoken to the United Arab Emirates’ foreign minister and have expressed my reservations over her invitation. I have made myself clear that India has shown aggression,” Qureshi has said.
“Under the current circumstances, it will not be possible for me to attend OIC meeting where Sushma Swaraj is present,” Qureshi added.
Cross-Line of Control (LoC) trade has been suspended.

I spoke with Indian Minister of External Affairs Swaraj to emphasize our close security partnership and shared goal of maintaining peace and security in the region.
I also spoke to Pakistani Foreign Minister Qureshi to underscore the priority of de-escalating current tensions by avoiding military action, and the urgency of Pakistan taking meaningful action against terrorist groups operating on its soil.
I expressed to both Ministers that we encourage India and Pakistan to exercise restraint, and avoid escalation at any cost. I also encouraged both Ministers to prioritize direct communication and avoid further military activity.

5 soldiers injured as Pakistan resorts to heavy shelling along LoC
Five Army soldiers were injured and two houses damaged as Pakistani army resorted to heavy mortar shelling on 55 forward areas in Jammu, Rajouri and Poonch districts yesterday, officials said, hours after IAF jets struck a JeM terror camp in Balakot.
The Pakistani army used heavy weaponry, firing 120-mm mortar targeting civilian hamlets and forward posts since 5.30 pm yesterday, they said, according to PTI.
The officials said Indian troops gave a "befitting reply" to the firing. (PTI)

Sushma Swaraj is talking about yesterday's IAF operation.
“Terrorism tops the list of threats that the world faces today. Attacks in Pulwama were perpetrated by Jaish-e-Mohammad. Such attacks are a reminder for all nations to take decisive action against terrorism,” Swaraj said.
“Instead of acting against JeM, Pakistan refused to act. Hence, the government of India decided to take this action. This was not a military operation. Only terror infrastructure was targeted. We do not look to escalate this issue further,” Swaraj added.

Indian Army destroys 5 Pakistani posts in retaliation along LoC
The Indian Army destroyed five Pakistani posts along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir yesterday night in a befitting retaliation to firing from across the border, resulting in a "number of casualties" to Pakistani troops, a defence official said.
"The Indian Army retaliated for effect and our focused fire resulted in severe destruction to five posts and number of casualties to Pak army (along LoC in Rajouri and Poonch districts)", the defence PRO said, according to PTI.
From 6.30 pm onwards, the Pakistani army initiated unprovoked ceasefire violation by shelling with heavy calibre weaponry along the LoC out of frustration, he said. The Pakistani troops were also seen firing mortars and missiles from civilian houses, using villagers as human shields. (PTI)
