Kim in Hanoi causes \'sleepless nights\' at home

Every move he makes, every step he takes, North Korean state media is watching Kim Jong Un.

In his longest known trip abroad, North Korea's coverage of its leader has been more aggressive than ever before.

With unusually fast and timely updates of his day-to-day in Vietnam.

And that's a contrast to his first few trips overseas, where state media wouldn't even reveal he had left until he was back in the country.

Back home, the north's citizens are watching closely.

On the North's flagship newspaper, Rodong Shinmun, Kim's Hanoi summit has been gracing its covers with daily coverage along with detailed descriptions of Kim's quote 'excellent diplomatic skills.

In an op-ed on Wednesday (February 27), one writer even talked about 'sleepless nights' since the leader went abroad.

(SOUNDBITE) (Korean) NORTH KOREAN PRESIDENT OF SCIENCE-TECHNOLOGY COMPLEX, CHOE JONG HO, SAYING: "Our leader has once again gone abroad for the sake of our motherland's prosperity.

We are overcome with pride." State media has confirmed that Kim will be staying in Vietnam until March 2nd (Saturday), making his overall trip at least seven days.

It'll be the longest he's been away from North Korea since coming to power.

Experts say it points to his confidence in running the regime, and that this is a side of the leader North Koreans may never have seen before.
