Cape Town - Liverpool will look to get back to winning ways when they host Watford in the English Premier League on Wednesday.

The Reds returned to the top of the table on Sunday when they drew at Old Trafford but is likely to be without the services of Roberto Firmino, who sustained an ankle injury at the weekend.

In the Brazilian’s absence, Reds boss Jurgen Klopp has a couple of options. If he plays the same formation, then Daniel Sturridge or Divock Origi would come in.

Should the German decide on a change of formation, with Mohamed Salah playing up front, then Naby Keita or Xherdan Shaqiri could come in as advanced midfielders.

Klopp’s side won the reverse fixture 3-0 and the same fixture last season 5-0, with Salah the star man on both occasions.

A fifth consecutive home league win over the Hornets will ensure Liverpool remain at the summit and, although Salah has scored just once in his last five games, Watford boss Javi Gracia knows his side will need to be at their best to get a result.

“I don’t know how many goals he has scored in his last games, but I remember in the last game we played against him he scored a lot of goals,” Gracia told reporters.

“Then we try to do our job better because we will need to keep a very good level to compete and have the option of getting some points.”

The visitors find themselves in seventh position on the table but have only won one of the games they’ve played against sides above them. After winning their last two matches, the Hornets could add to that tally on Wednesday.

Firmino aside, Klopp’s side remain without long-term absentees Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Joe Gomez and Dejan Lovren, but Trent Alexander-Arnold is set to make his first league start in six weeks.

The Hornets, meanwhile, are without Kiko Femenia and the suspended Jose Holebas for the trip to Merseyside.
