A resident of Raikhad allegedly inflicted burn injuries on his wife's private parts on the suspicion that she was having an extra marital affair. The woman has registered a complaint against her husband with the police.

According to police, Sheela (name changed), 40, stated in her complaint that her husband Rajesh (name changed) inflicted burn injuries on her private parts using a hot knife, and also beat her up after with a belt and stick. The incident took place on February 22 and 23 after Rajesh saw his wife of 15 years speaking with a male friend on phone.

Sheela said that her husband thrashed her under the suspicion that she was having an affair with the male friend. She alleged that the next day, when their children had gone to school, he again quarrelled with her over the same issue. The woman claimed he inflicted burn injuries on her private parts, and also assaulted her, causing injuries in her eyes, thigh, and back.

The woman claimed she escaped from her home on February 24 when her husband had gone to a marriage reception and went to an acquaintance's home in Odhav. She contacted her uncle and aunt from there, who took her to a civil hospital for treatment the next day, where she registered an FIR against her husband.

Gaekwad Haveli police said that they have registered a case, and PSI Payal Prajapati is investigating.
