Indore: Hospital for retired army personnel at Khandwa Road soon, says Tai

Indore: Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan on Tuesday said a small hospital for retired army personnel will be established at Khandwa Road soon. Addressing the foundation stone laying function of 300-bed hospital of Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC), on Tuesday, Mahajan said, “It was a long pending demand of the retired army personnel as they have to go to Mhow even for getting signature on paper for treatment.”

She said after completion of 300-bed hospital, she will ask union health minister JP Nadda to provide a medical college as the college will require at least 300-bed hospital. “We will provide everything for the betterment of citizens. City is expanding and we are working to provide every facility to all,” she said while counting the establishment of Maharaja Tukojirao Hospital, super speciality eye hospital at Kalyanmal Nursing Home campus, Virology Lab and others.

BJP National General Secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya appealed to the officials of CPWD to construct the 300-bed hospital in a way that it could be expanded into 500-bed later.

“A medical college was proposed at the place but the scheme of the government changed and a 300-bed hospital is being established. We wish that a medical college would be established in which children of labours can get medical education at very low rate,” Vijayvargiya added.

Pension scheme for  unorganised labourers soon

Meanwhile, Union Minister of Labour and Employment Santosh Gangwar said that the government is working in right direction and is making policies by keeping people of every walk of life in mind. “Government is soon coming up with the pension scheme for the unorganised labours in which they have to pay Rs 55 every month and they will get a pension of Rs 3000 after being 60 years,” he said.

He also commented on the demand of turning the hospital in medical college, Gangwar said, “We will definitely take steps to turn the hospital in medical college but as per Medical Council of India’s norm, a 300-bed hospital should run for one year at least to get medical seats.”

Gangwar also said that people have an image that ESIC Hospital is only for serving two tablets for everything but in reality, super specialty facilities are available in ESIC hospitals.
