NEW DELHI: The crucial Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting, ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, has been postponed due to the heightened tension on the Indo-Pakistan border.
Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal has already deferred his indefinite hunger strike which was to start on March 1 in the national capital.

“In view of the prevailing security situation, the Congress leadership has decided to postpone its meeting of the working committee slated to be held in Ahmedabad on Thursday,” Congress’s in charge of communications department Randeep Surjewala said on Wednesday.

Congress president Rahul Gandhi and his sister and party general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra were supposed to hold a rally in Adalaj in Gandhinagar after the CWC meet. The rally also stands postponed.

The top brass was expected to attend the meeting of the CWC, the party’s highest decision making body.

Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday announced postponement of his indefinite hunger strike, scheduled from Friday, in view of the prevailing Indo-Pak situation. His hunger strike was to demand full statehood for Delhi.

“In view of the prevailing Indo-Pak situation, I am postponing my upwas for full statehood of Delhi. We all stand as one nation today," Kejriwal said.

Earlier on Tuesday, Kejriwal saluted the pilots of Indian Air Force after it carried out the air strikes across the Line of Control. "I salute the bravery of Indian Air Force pilots who have made us proud by striking terror targets in Pakistan," he tweeted.
