Drunk man makes hoax bomb call to Chennai police to 'teach nagging wife a lesson'

CHENNAI: A drunk man devised a plan to teach his nagging wife a lesson and made a hoax bomb call to the Chennai city police control room on Tuesday evening stating that she and some others had planted a bomb at Chennai Central railway station which would explode on Wednesday.
A Saravanan, 37, who is a carpenter cum painter, called the police control room from his cellphone around 6.25pm on Tuesday and informed the control room staff that his wife, Munni, had frequently spoken to unknown people. Saravanan said he had overheard his wife talking to someone about planting bombs at Chennai Central railway station. He disconnected the call.
The control room staff informed the Teynampet police. The police traced him with the help of his mobile number.
During interrogations, Saravanan revealed that his plan was to teach his wife a lesson since she used to quarrel with him over trivial issues.
The Teynampet police registered a case and arrested Saravanan.
The couple have two sons and a daughter.
