PM Modi also said that more than 20 lakh Army jawans have been given OROP. "Nothing is more important than the nation," he says.

"More than 50 lakh farmer families are also included in the scheme. However, no family from Churu or Rajasthan are included in it because state's Congress government did not send Centre the list of beneficiaries. UP government had given and hence, they were the first ones to receive the benefit," says PM Modi, requesting government to not let farmers lose out on schemes due to politics.

Hours after India struck biggest Jaish camp in Pakistan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said he assures that India is in safe hands. "I am understanding your josh today," he said.

Top government sources have told CNN-News18 that the target was a training camp on a hillock that looked like a 5-star hotel with a pool. They claimed that 325 fidayeens  plus 25 commanders were killed in the air strike.

According to news agency ANI, foreign diplomats from the USA, UK, Russia, Australia,Indonesia,Turkey and six Asean nations being briefed by Foreign Secretary Vijay Gokhale on Indian air strike across LOC in Balakot.

Puducherry Chief Minister V Narayanasamy on Tuesday hailed the pilots of Indian Air Force (IAF) for carrying out air strikes on the terror camps inside Pakistan. "I salute our Indian Air Force for their attack on terrorist camps inside Pakistan. The country is proud of you (pilots of IAF)," he said in his twitter handle. India on Tuesday carried out pre-dawn air strikes on terror launch pads in Pakistan and is believed to have destroyed terrorist targets. The strike comes amid heightened tension between India and Pakistan following the February 14 suicide attack by Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammad terror group in Kashmir's Pulwama district that killed 40 CRPF soldiers. Strikes involving several fighter jets of the IAF successfully destroyed camps belonging to Pakistan-based terror outfits in Balakot in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

Former Pakistan defence minister Khawaja Asif, in a fiery address on the floor of the National Assembly on Tuesday, called for all parties to "put on a united front" in the wake of IAF's "non-military" pre-emptive strike in Pakistan's Balakot area. 

An editorial in Dawn, put the onus on war-mongering on "Hindutva ideologues" and said, "In India’s case, Hindutva ideologues have infiltrated all levels of the state machinery; this has resulted in an increasingly rigid attitude towards Pakistan."

According to residents along the LOC, the thunderous sound of Indian Air Force's war planes approaching could be heard for nearly 10 minutes.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister K Palaniswami on Tuesday lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi for India's air strikes on terror launch pads in Pakistan, commending him for his "bold" efforts against terrorism. Modi was tasting success in rooting out terrorism, which was threatening the entire world, the chief minister said in a statement and lauded him on behalf of the people of Tamil Nadu. "I extend my greetings to Prime Minister Narendra Modi due to whose bold functioning, a successful air strike has been carried out which has demolished terror camps in Pakistan," Palaniswami said. India conducted a major preemptive strike on a Jaish-e-Mohammed training camp early Tuesday, killing a "very large number" of  terrorists, trainers and senior commanders. The strike comes amid heightened tension between India and Pakistan following the February 14 suicide attack by Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammad terror group in Kashmir's Pulwama district that killed 40 CRPF soldiers.

A debate is underway in Pakistan National Assembly on India's air strike. Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has said that the country holds the right to self-defence and a "befitting response to Indian aggression, after Indian military aircraft violated the Line of Control (LoC) earlier today".

Indian Air Force has been put on high alert all air defence systems along the international border and Line of Control (LoC) to respond to any possible action by Pakistan air force.

Who is JeM's Yusuf Azhar? | Foreign Secretary Vijay Gokhale ​said that the air force hit at the JeM camp run by Yusuf Azhar, touted to be the brother-in-law of Masood Azhar, the chief of the terror outfit. According to a report in The Hindu, Yusuf Azhar alias Mohammad Salim was one of the men who hijacked the Indian Airline flight IC 814 to Kandahar in 1999. The JeM chief was then released by India in exchange for the IC- 814 hijacked passengers. In 2002, the government handed over a list of 20 fugitives to Islamabad which featured Yusuf Azhar's name.

Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj has invited Opposition leaders for a briefing on the air strike in Pakistan. The meeting is scheduled at 5 pm at Jawahar Bhawan.

Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that India has carried out a misadventure against Pakistan. "I will call it a grave aggression. We had warned the world that such an act can take place. Today they carried out this misadventure against Pakistan. This is a violation of the Line of Control. Pakistan reserves the right to an adequate response and a right to self defence. I will meet the Prime Minister and present him with the view of the Foreign Ministry," he added.

Tawab Ghorzang, former director at Afghanistan's National Security Council, lauded the Indian Air Force for "hitting terror outfits in Balakot". "The area has been known to have the so-called Jihadi Training Camps since era of Zia-ul-Haq," he said in a tweet.

Former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah says that India has "entered a whole new paradigm" with the Balakote air strike. "The post Uri strike was to avenge our losses, Balakote was a 'preemptive strike to prevent an imminent JeM attack'. Totally new ballgame," he says.

One Pakistani Ranger was killed and others injured after being shot by BSF following a ceasefire violation in Jammu's Kanachak, reports News18 India.
