Vadodara: Directors and officials of a chemical company at Tundav village in Savli were booked for disposing of dangerous waste in a farm land and for also storing chemical waste in its premises unscientifically.
The owner of the farm land and its tenants, who were storing scrap material, have also been named as accused in the case.

Officials of the Gujarat Pollution Control Board (GPCB) had conducted search on the farm on February 23 when they received information that chemicals and dangerous waste was being disposed openly.

It was found that the tenants of the land Aman Khan Pathan, Sagir Pathan and Dilshan Khan Pathan were collecting waste from the local industries and dumping on the land owned by Devshi Parmar. The trio was also burning waste openly causing air pollution.

At the time of the search, GPCB officials found a truck which had brought waste to the farm land from Sachinanandan Mineral Company. GPSCB officials later checked at the company’s premises where they found that waste was stored dangerously. Police said that the company was trying to dispose of the waste causing pollution for saving money. It is mandatory for companies to dispose of the waste with an agency authorized by GPCB.

An FIR under various sections of IPC and Environment Protection Act was registered at Savli police station.
