Bhopal: The night chill returned in state with mercury sliding five notches below the season’s normal in Indore and 4 in state capital on Sunday. Intermittent rain with squalls and lightning will occur at a few places in state in the next 24 hours. Another confluence zone which is in the making would once bring rains in Madhya Pradesh by March 3, said Met department.
Bhopal recorded a maximum temperature of 29.3 degree Celsius which was just marginally above normal, however the night temperature dropped to 12.6 degree Celsius on Sunday night. The temperature had settled at 16.4 degree Celsius, a night previous.
Indore recorded a maximum temperature of 29.0 degree Celsius which was 1.9 degree Celsius below normal while it recorded a minimum temperature of 11.8 degree Celsius.
The confluence zone which was earlier over east-central Arabian Sea is seen moving across parts of Madhya Pradesh. Isolated rain and thundershower activities were witnessed over East Madhya Pradesh. Bhopal, Jabalpur and Sidhi have already witnessed wet spells.
The system is now moving eastward, thus Madhya Pradesh will now witness very less weather activity. In the next 24 hours the state will witness intermittent rain with squalls and lightning at few places.
As per the meteorological department, the day temperatures have already dropped and are likely to shoot up again from Tuesday onwards. The minimums will however drop by a couple of degrees during this period.
