MANGALURU: Pre-dawn pre-emptive strikes carried out by the Indian Air Force on terror launch pads at Balakot across the border saw nationalistic fervour sweep this coastal city. Social media sites were abuzz with congratulatory message and WhatsApp sticker – Hows The Josh – starting making rounds almost immediately. #IAF, #SurgicalStrike2?, #IAFStrikesBack started trending on microblogging site with Twitteratti making use of the same.
A motley crew of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s supporters gathered in front of Sri Venkataramana Temple on Car Street and raised pro-India slogans. Special prayers were offered to the presiding deity with a prayer to empower Indian armed forces all the more to protect Indian borders. The overjoyed supporters also burst crackers to express their happiness in what they said was decisive counter reply to the Pulwama massacre.
Likewise, cadre of SRS, Hindu chauvinistic organisation, celebrated the event at Mallikatte Circle and VHP cadre at PVS junction. Waving Indian tricolour, the cadre chanted Pro-India slogans and hailed the decisive action of Indian armed forces led by IAF. “Our armed forces have shown that India is not to be trifled with and has answered for Pulwama in a language that Pakistan understands,” VHP leader Shivanand Mendon said.
Student activists of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishat (ABVP) too celebrated the pre-emptive strike by holding a mini stand-in rally in front of the under-construction clock tower. Lauding the IAF for its action, Vikas Katipalla, city secretary of ABVP, said destruction of terror launch pads would come as a solace to the souls of Pulwama martyrs. This IAF strike has shown that the CISF soldiers have not laid down the lives in vain, he noted.
Franklin Monteiro, founder, Rashtravadi Christhara Vedike, said India has answered in the most apt manner to Pakistan that consistently was needling the country by promoting acts of terror on Indian soil.
In entering Pakistani territory and taking out terror launch pads of the organization that masterminded the Pulwama massacre, IAF has brought 'Holi' earlier to India, he said, adding India has shown to the world that it is capable of defending itself from external aggression.
