The boiler blast at a private maize seed processing plant at Nayakulagudem in Penuballi mandal on Monday night that left four labourers dead and 10 others injured exposed the alleged violation of safety aspects by the management of the plant.
Two of the victims of the devastating boiler explosion hailed from Bihar. The other two victims are from other parts of the district. The injured are undergoing treatment at different hospitals in Sattupalli and Penuballi.
Condition of one worker is reported to be critical and others are said to be out of danger.
The gruesome incident also turned the spotlight on the plight of scores of migrant labourers working in hazardous conditions, devoid of safety provisions in various errant private factories in the district.
Accumulation of excess pressure in the boiler is believed to have caused the blast in the seed processing plant, sources said.
Meanwhile, the local police in coordination with the officials of the Factories and Labour departments on Tuesday launched a detailed investigation into the incident to establish the precise cause of the boiler explosion.
