Cattle Commentary: April live cattle were firm today, with the most impressive buying activity coming in towards the close, prompting prices to round out today’s session at the highs. Cash trade has yet to develop this week, but many are suggesting packers will have to pay up this week. Tomorrow’s Fed Cattle Exchange has 287 head offered, not even a drop in the bucket, but something active market participants keep an eye on. Winter weather has taken a toll on weights in the Midwest with reports of cattle coming in up to 100lbs lighter, that has also been a supportive factor in recent price action.
