CHANDIGARH: A cook of Sunariya jail on Sunday committed suicide after strangulating to death his live-in partner at his house in Jatusana town of Rewari district.
The incident came to light on Monday morning after the deceased’s relatives visited him and got no response on knocking the main door. Sensing something wrong, they then informed the police. The cops reached the spot and broke open the door to find two bodies.
According to sources, Mahender had returned from duty on Sunday night and had allegedly had an altercation with his live-in partner Sanju, a native of Agartala. In the heat of the moment, he reportedly strangulated her to death and committed suicide.
Investigations revealed that Mahender’s family had shifted to Rewari 25 year ago and he and Sanju would often visit his house in Jatusana.
The bodies were handed over to the kin of both deceased after conducting post mortem examination. No case has been registered, cops said.
