AHMEDABAD: Naroda police and residents of the area apprehended three men who tried to rob a commuter of his mobile phone and cash on Sunday night. Naroda police officials said they are interrogating the three accused — Dilip Parmar, Keyur Patel and Deepak Patel — to know if they have been involved in more such offences.

According to the complaint lodged by Vivekanand Samantrai (34) of Naroda, who works for a private company, while returning after buying medicine for his wife from a medical store, he was intercepted by three motorcycle-borne persons who took his mobile phone and Rs 3,000 from his pocket.

“As Samantrai raised the alarm, locals gathered and nabbed two of the three robbers, while the third managed to run away. Police rushed in on getting information of the incident and nabbed the third robber in a few hours. From their interrogation, it has emerged that Dilip Parmar was driving the motorcycle while Keyur and Deepak were riding pillion. Parmar and Keyur Patel were nabbed on the spot while Deepak was arrested later on,” said a senior Naroda police official.
