‘New audit and account services soon’

CHANDIGARH: To give a feel of corporate sector to its employees, the Haryana government has announced “corporate salary package” in the budget to provide them some benefits. Under the scheme, benefits including natural death cover of Rs 2 lakh, medical facility of Rs 50,000 and accident insurance to employees up to Rs 30 lakh have been announced.
To provide these, the government has tied up with four banks including SBI, HDFC, PNB and the Haryana State Cooperative Apex (HARCO).
The government also proposed to constitute the ‘Haryana Audit & Accounts Service’, to facilitate better management and accountability of public finances and effective implementation of the proposed estimates.
Sources added that with this, the state government may hire chartered accountants for management of public finances and internal audit systems of government department by replacing the account officers of the state government.
Further to increase accountability of the government departments and all such entities receiving public funds, the government has proposed to introduce the ‘Haryana Accountability of Public Finances Bill, 2019’. The bill would provide for an effective and efficient system to facilitate accountability of public finances through appropriate accounting and auditing systems in all the departments and entities receiving public money.
Haryana also announced that an MoU between the finance departments of governments of Haryana and Gujarat, to facilitate and strengthen collaboration between the two state governments in the areas of fiscal management, financial service, and IT support.
