BMW Source Claims M2 CS Coming With 445 HP And 6-Speed Manual

Thought the BMW M2 Competition was impressive? Well, an even quicker version is coming and according to the latest reports, it will indeed be called the BMW M2 CS.

Rumors have been floating around for quite some time about the vehicle with some suggesting that it could revive the famed CSL name. However, a reliable source from the Bimmerpost forums who has been proved to be right in the past supports that the car will instead be called the CS. Much like the BMW M3 CS and M4 CS, the sports car will feature a series of upgrades over the M2 Competition.

Most importantly, BMW engineers will no longer reign in power from the M3-sourced twin-turbo six-cylinder and instead tweak it up to a healthy 445 hp. BMW will also appease its enthusiastic fanbase with both a six-speed manual transmission and an available dual-clutch gearbox.

BMW continues to make the M2 better and better

Alongside the powertrain, customers will have four paint options: Black Sapphire, Alpine White, Hockenheim Silver, and Misano Blue. Numerous changes will also be made to the exterior to make it look a little more exciting, inevitably meaning some carbon fiber add-ons.

Other important details about the car that are said to have been confirmed include an optional Alcantara steering wheel, available carbon ceramic brakes, and some special trimmings throughout the interior. We also expect to see new wheels.

Seeing as though production of the F80-generation M3 and M4 ended last year, BMW will be able to build the more powerful M2 CS without cannibalizing new car sales of the M3 and M4. The presence of the M2 CS in the company’s line-up will also force it to ensure the next-generation M3 and M4 benefit from a raft of upgrades to once again slot above the M2 in the BMW range.
