Three of a family were killed in a road accident near Valayankulam on Tuesday night when they were run over by a bus after they fell down from the bike that had hit another two-wheeler.
The police identified the deceased as R. Dharmar (30) of Koothiyargundu. He was riding the bike, along with his wife Eswari, daughter Sundari (6) and son Guruvalingam (2). The family was proceeding towards Pulvaikarai in Sivaganga district to attend a function.
When the family was going on the Solankuruni-Valankulam road, a motorbike that came from behind a bus coming on the opposite direction, suddenly hit this bike at around 8 p.m. All the four members of the family fell down on the road and three of them got under the rear wheel of the bus proceeding towards Periyar bus stand from Kaluvakulam.
They were killed on the spot. The injured Eswari was rushed to the Government Rajaji Hospital.
