Share market update: Auto shares in the red; TVS Motor down over 2%

NEW DELHI: Auto shares were trading in the red in Tuesday's morning session.

Shares of TVS Motor Company (down 2.64 per cent), Exide Industries (down 2.55 per cent), Ashok Leyland (down 2.52 per cent)and Motherson Sumi Systems (down 2.36 per cent) were trading lower.

Hero MotoCorp (down 1.93 per cent), Apollo Tyres (down 1.66 per cent), Amara Raja Batteries (down 1.35 per cent)and Tata Motors (down 1.34 per cent) too were trading with losses.

The Nifty Auto index was trading 1.18 per cent down at 8272.70 around 10:14 am.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 124.15 points at 10,755.95 while the BSE Sensex was down 415.68 points at 35,797.70.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 5 were trading in the green, while 45 were in the red.

Shares of YES Bank, Ashok Leyland, Tata Motors, Vedanta, SAIL, Motherson Sumi, SBI, Bank of Baroda, BEL, NHPC, Adani Ports SEZ, ICICI Bank, ONGC, Indiabulls Housing Finance and Bharti Infratel were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
