Bhopal: Horrendous murder of twin boys, kidnapped from Satna, has left people shell-shocked and concerned for safety of their children. “I did not get a wink of sleep the entire night. The thought that it could well have been my two sons in place of Priyansh and Shreyansh, kept on recurring like a nightmare,” said Abid Khan, who works as public relations officer in Bal Bhawan School.
Parents sharing their concern with Free Press said police verification of the tutors may help but insisted that the roots of such crimes lie in growing joblessness, insatiable lust for wealth and the desire to become rich overnight. Khan said that police verification cannot be the answer. “We are witnessing a steep fall in moral and human values in society and that is one reason for the proliferation of such crimes.”
Pinky Verma, a homemaker and a mother of three young children, said, “I am feeling very scared for my children.” Referring to the fact that the victim children were kidnapped from the school bus, she said that may be, had the driver and conductor of the bus, instead of phoning the parents of the children, had informed the police and had they clicked a photograph of the getaway vehicle of the kidnappers, they would have been caught.”

“There are difficult times. One doesn’t know who is what and who would turn out to be a heartless criminal or a dreaded terrorist,” she added. Anita Singh, who is the mother of a class-12 student, said that the parents should keep in touch with the tutors of their children.
“At least their identity should be verified and their background checked.” She also felt that the life of the two kids could have been saved had the police acted more swiftly and professionally.
