The Congress Working Committee (CMC) meeting that is scheduled to be held in Ahmedabad on February 28 will see the party discuss its the economic, social and security blueprint for the country in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Congress president Rahul Gandhi, along with other members of the Gandhi family — including Sonia Gandhi and Priyanka apart from all the CMs of Congress-ruled states, will attend the meet. Top leaders will land in the city at around 9 am and will be first visiting the Gandhi Ashram and then the Sahid Smarak before heading to the Sardar Patel Memorial for the CWC meet. Later in the day, the leaders will also be attending a  Jan Sampark Rally. The meeting is likely to see the party deciding on the social, economic and security blueprint that it will project for the upcoming elections.

Gujarat Congress President Amit Chavda said they will take up issues of unemployment, inflation, corruption and minimum wages at the rally. It should be noted that this is the first CWC meeting to be held in Gujarat since 1961. To a question on whether Priyanka Gandhi will address the people during the rally, Chavda said it depends on whether enough time is available.

To a question on the state Congress’ poor performance in the recently concluded Assembly session, Chavda said the problem was not with the party’s performance but the government’s attempt to not let the opposition raise relevant questions. “The assembly session seemed more like an effort to propagate the government’s upcoming election manifesto than an attempt to talk about the problems being faced by the people,” said Leader of Opposition Paresh Dhanani.
