A woman who was stung by a box jellyfish has relived the horrific moment she felt the deadly creature's tentacles wrap around her leg.
Prue Davey, 22, from Nhulunbuy in the Northern Territory, was standing in murky water trying to pull in her boat when she felt a burning pain.
The fisherwoman quickly realised her life was in danger.
'It starts like you've been bitten...[and] electrocuted at the same time. Sort of like a searing burn,' Ms Davey told the ABC.
'I had probably 20 tentacles all over me....I ended up with about a metre's worth of burns.'

Her husband immediately called for help, grabbed some vinegar from the boat club and began carefully removing the long purple tentacles from her leg.
If untreated, the venom from a box jellyfish can kill a person in less than five minutes.
Ms Davey was rushed to Gove District Hospital and spent the next six hours in excruciating pain.
