Builder to face action for damaging newly-built road
TNN | Feb 25, 2019, 07:52 ISTLudhiana: The MC is going to recommend FIR against a private developer for damaging a road to get a sewerage connection illegally to a colony in ward number 7 on Sunday. Civic officials have stopped the ongoing activity in the area.
The concerned road was constructed just five months ago with great difficulty, residents claimed.
Highlighting the issue, MLA Sanjay Talwar had stated that some private developers had damaged the main road leading to Jain Colony in ward number 7 just to link the colony with the MC sewerage line. Talwar had demanded action against the developers.
Superintendent engineer of bridges and road department Parveen Singla said the developers will have to pay penalty for damaging the road without any permission.
SDO of operation and maintenance cell, Parshotam Kumar, said he had reached the spot and stopped the work. He said he would seek permission to get an FIR registered against the contractors on Monday. The colony is being developed over 15 acres of land. Kumar said they will recover the penalty against the damage caused to the road.
Meanwhile, residents of area rued that they will have to pay the price as the MC had constructed the road after several requests and now when it has been damaged again, it will again become a tough task for commuters.
