As more stories of pet deaths on planes make headlines, my team couldn't help but wonder what was going on in the cargo and cabins of planes. Pet Life Today explored the public’s attitudes regarding air travel with animals, asking nearly 1,000 individuals about the ethics and etiquette of flying with pets.
Some study highlights:
- The top concerns of non-pet owners were the sounds (62% concerned) and smells (61% concerned) coming from pets on planes
- When asked why pet owners would avoid taking their pets along for a flight, 69% of cat owners and 65% of dog owners cited safety concerns
- Only 54% of dog owners were satisfied with their pets experience riding in cargo and 21.7% of respondents had difficulty with their airline when bringing their pet
