Some of us recall "Lido's Lounge," the den in Lee Iacocca's Bloomfield Hills abode and Bob Lutz's glamorous deck and groovy garage in Saline, Mich. But not many auto wags have peeked inside one of Elon Musk's bat caves.
Here's our chance, as Musk has his high modern house in Bel Air, Calif., up for sale. A string of photos gathered by a real estate agent (presumably) and posted on the luxury home site American Luxury shows how the auto industry's billionaire playboy lives after hours when he's not sleeping on the factory floor.
According to the site, the relatively modestly sized home (by billionaire standards) is one of several in the L.A. area owned by the Tesla founder. It's priced at $4.5 million. Musk has owned it for about five years and purchased it for $3.7 million, according to public records.
The American Luxury description: "From the appealing backyard perspective, the residence is glassy and warm; an interior tour bears out the impression. Stacked stone, plank oak and custom cabinetry offer an abundance of warmth to act as ballast for the strong lines, and the open shared living area is extremely inviting as a result."
